The two restaurants attached ...

The two restaurants attached to the hotel are great. Service is awesome. The hotel desk attendance on the other hand can be a little rude.

Good location, clean room, the rest was average

The location was good, right in the middle of chinatown. The room was clean and reasonably spacious for new york. They would not book a yellow cab for us claiming that it was possible (have you heard of Curb??) trying to get us to book with their airport transfer services (more expensive). The wardrobe would only fit a couple of t-shirts and a couple of pairs of trousers.

OK room, friendly staff, not so great location

The room was clean and relatively spacious for NY standards. The bed was comfortable and the staff was very friendly and there was a nice view of the Empire State Building from the very large window. The small issues were: the cupboard was quite small, the bathroom could have done with some more towel hanging hooks, and a bit better upkeep (the soap holder was rusty and one of tiles was missing) and the black out curtains still let in a bit of light. Last and not least the location isn't brilliant, in that it didn't feel very safe in the dark.

A Mixed Bag

Sean Sy, the Front Desk Manager, was very gracious, placing us in a high corner room with two floor to ceiling walls, one facing north, the other west. The views and sense of airiness were superb--one felt like a bird flying high over the Bowery. With two window walls, it felt like the Mr. Big’s corner office. Or, rather, Mr. Big’s small corner office as the room was small, more like a Paris hotel-sized room than a NYC hotel-sized one. Our stay was a mixed bag. As several comments noted, the absence of a second shower door made water on the floor unavoidable. The lack of shelf space and narrow edges of the bathroom sink counter made it hard to find space for toiletries. The bathroom was a textbook example of form over function and a source of frustration. The desk was small, kid's size, really; the desk chair (the room’s only chair) was sized to barely fit into the desk’s kneehole, so the desk’s inside edges were beaten up. Worse, when in place, the desk chair completely blocked the narrow passage that was the direct route from the bed to the bathroom. The bed had a nightstand only on one side though there seemed adequate space for another. Two more caveats: Daily room cleaning is available, but only if you request it. Though the sign on the room door indicates a noon checkout, I was told that it was..
